For those interested in the technical aspects of what we do rather than the result of creating awesome specialised applications. We use a small but extremely powerful collection of technologies that together allow us to create fast, efficient and secure applications.
By using a framework called Laravel for the back end that runs on PHP, combined with Angular for the front end, we are able to develop applications quickly and efficiently.
Both platforms have large developer communities and are constantly providing both security updates and bug fixes to make sure the frameworks are world class.
We use Amazon Web Services or your own servers to host the applications and can work with either MySQL, MSSQL or PostgreSQL to manage the data for your application.
When developing mobile applications we use a framework called Ionic that is a sub set of Angular. This allows us to use one code base to create native iOS and Android applications.

Clever use of training package names made to appear more relevant as the entrepreneurship program.
Training packages Performance criteria and outcomes in courses are often dry and don't appeal directly to the general public. An assessment specialist would get all excited, but the average student needs something a little different. Training package names are not...
More simple interactive content in WordPress (or Moodle)?
Many teachers are left in the cold when it comes to adding interactivity to their online resources. Just upload a PDF document and everything will be fine. But the web lends itself to interactivity and there is no reason why we can't make more use of online...
Basic Interactivity in Moodle
Now that Adobe Flash has virtually disappeared, it seems that we don't have so many opportunities to create interactive content. Many education organisations used flash to create quiz tools and interactive mini applications that required interaction from the students....
Just a thought….is the internet more credible than teachers?
Question Why do people study online? Why do we use Google? Because we want to find out an answer to a problem. Simple, you have a question, you Google it and you have your answer. Answer Not so simple. Is the answer you found correct? How do I know that it suits my...
Holy crap – did technology just work or am I missing something?
As you know, I started my degree in Education Technology. And you know I am experimenting to see if I can complete my degree using mobile devices. As you also know, technology doesn’t always play nicely. My first task in one of my units was to complete some questions...
This is what I do in the shower… What do you do?
I don't actually want to know what you really do in the shower, but I have been thinking about what I do in the shower. I have some theories I solve problems when I'm in the shower. If I have this frustrating technical web programming problem, I have a shower. My...
Have you made the biggest mistake in life yet?
FAIL = First Attempt In Learning. I think of myself as a conservative person, not a big risk taker and not game to try things that seem a bit too risky. When there is a decision to make, I draw pictures, diagrams and create pros and cons lists to help make a decision....
Completing my Degree on a WHAT, a mobile device? No Way…
Have you ever had this absolutely awesome idea, started down the road of doing it to only discover that it was a really stupid idea to start with. That was me six weeks ago. A relaxing weekend, sitting on the lounge near the fire, TV humming in the background, the...
Online Education – A pipe dream or wishful thinking?
I notice from many blogs that the trend of thinking from many educators seems to be that people want to study online so that they can learn at their own pace, when they want and how they want (at least that's how it is advertised). But talking to many students, the...
