Welcome back! I’m Chris Richter from the Ricochet YouTube channel. Today, I’m excited to show you how to add YouTube videos to your Moodle pages using a custom embedder. This method not only simplifies the process but also enhances the visual appeal of your videos. Special thanks to Greg Bird for creating this fantastic tool!

The Standard Process of Adding YouTube Videos in Moodle

Step 1: Obtain the YouTube Video Link

To start, head over to YouTube, find your video, and copy the URL. For example, consider my recent video on the Ricochet channel.

Step 2: Adding the Video to Moodle

  1. Log in to your Moodle account.
  2. Navigate to the course where you want to add the video.
  3. Click “Edit” on the page where you’d like to embed the video.

Options for Embedding

  1. Direct URL Method: Simply paste the YouTube link into a page and save. However, this often results in an unattractive embed that lacks customisation.
  2. Iframe Code Embedding: Go to the video, click on “Share,” then “Embed.” Copy the iframe code and paste it into the Moodle HTML editor.
